Online Poker

Not everything I say or write about will contour to your play.
During this pandemic a lot of live players have had resort to online poker. I have seen many players show their dislike for online poker. I have been playing online poker for 20 years, and with that said I believe there are some things people should do while playing tourneys online. I wanted to share a list of rules I follow when I’m playing tourneys online.
Rules
- Never play outside of your bankroll!
- Always check the structure of the game of your choice. <>
Just jumping off a bridge because you see water might cost you your life. - Always allot at least one bullet, and or a add-on. I will not rebuy if late registration is almost over and I won’t have time to double or recover to the chip leader. Note: Usually I will allow myself a rebuy if 3 levels of late registration is still available.
- Never play on TILT
- Minimize your distractions
- Take Notes On Players. I cannot stress this enough! Notes are vital in online poker these notes can be used in another tourney, a week from now, or even a month from now. Notes on players are like seeing a face walk up to a live table. You know who they are and what to expect from them when they sit down to play.
- Timing is a virtue in online tourneys. Be sure you are calculating the time you spend on each hand and be consistent when its your turn to play. If you aren’t always spending the same amount of time with AA as you do with 78 “Because its suited LOL” then other players will pick up on your play very easily.
- Ego and Pride….Sometimes we play our premium hands and we still know deep down that our AA or KK are beat on flop. NEVER be afraid to lay down a great hand because it’s 2 cards. Pick another spot to flip your chips. Remember this mistake could cost you your tourney life.
- Setting goals at the start, middle, and final tables. For instance for myself my 1st goal in a online tourney is to make it through late registration. My 2nd goal in a online tourney is to then make it into money (any cash is a win remember that). My 3rd goal would be to make it to final table. My 4th goal would be to make it to top 3, and of course my last goal would be to take it down.
- Have fun! If you aren’t having fun then you won’t prosper. Remaining focused, positive, and happy will lead to profitable results.
